Our newest product creation is an innovative device we’ve named the Z-Wave to ZigBee Bridge. It essentially allows electronic appliances that are part of a Z-Wave home ecosystem to communicate with the Smart Grid, which uses the ZigBee technology standard. Conversely, it allows the Smart Grid to communicate with a Z-Wave home ecosystem, thus bridging the two technology standards together.
The Z-Wave to ZigBee Bridge can actually ask the Smart Grid questions and receive important information such as when a peak load event is happening, or when price changes will occur. This is valuable to consumers because they can “associate” certain appliances within the Z-Wave home ecosystem to automatically “turn off” during peak load times, when prices are at their highest.
And it’s simple to use because it doesn’t require a web interface, the Internet, or a controller. Think of it as something grandma can use.
Stay tuned, as we plan to formally launch this product in February of 2010 and will provide more information highlighting its many benefits.
